Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has been brought up before but need some assistance.
I've been riding for 3 years now and have purchased the novice sufferfest training plan. Going to do the FTP test shortly and was originally going to do it with a HRM but also tossing up whether or not to get a G3 laced up to my wheels.
Would I get more out of my training with the power meter over a Heart rate monitor?

power meter is better as it's instant data, whereas a HR is always catching up.

Ok then that's fair enough.
Is it worth installing the power meter on your good wheelset, or on a cheaper training wheel.

I'd do it to the wheelset that will be mostly used for training. As during a race I pretty much never look at my power readings anyway.
I'd recommend a crank based PM too, makes life easier.
If you have shimano or sram cranks then get a Stages. Then you can use any wheels without hassle and always have a power reading on your rides.

... or you could try one of these. they make a number of different models for different crank manufacturers, including FSA. Mine is fitted to a Rotor 3D+.
