2012 Scott Premium Road Shoe
Purchased for $220 from Avanti Plus Fitzroy, tho prices vary up to $375, so look out!
Used for solo rides, group & club rides, and also TT
New for 2012 and on the back of Scott's re-entry to the pro peleton with Orica - GreenEdge are their new Premium range of road shoes.
The Premium sits atop Scott's range for this season, and with an RRP of $399, they are on par with offerings from the likes of Specialized, Sidi and Bont.
The Premiums are designed by the same team that bought you the Specialized S-Works range of shoes, and as a result, not only look similar, but feel just as comfortable, and weigh in about the same (claimed 270g size 42 EU).
One major difference is the Premium utilize only the one BOA dial up top which disperses the tension evenly down the length of the shoe. Tongue is cushioned without being bulky, and the mesh and synthetic uppers (RAM AIR SYSTEM) provide support and ventilation.
The Premium's full carbon sole is thin, stiff (Index 9 - Scott's highest rating for stiffness)yet also compliant for even the longest of rides.
The inner sole - named the ERGOLOGIC FOOTBED is also more than purely an afterthought (eg, Sidi Ergo 2)and has allowance for adjustments along the arch, while the AHC system is a carbon heel cradle to support the ankle.
Positives
+ Light, comfortable for any style of riding, and fits a wider foot as well as the Specialized S-Works.
Negatives
- Only comes in white (OGE colour coming soon)
If you're looking for pro level performance, and have the coin, look no further.
