Quick Poll - Do you prefer Sun Block or L/S Jersey?

Personally, I'm too lazy to apply sun block so leaning towards L/S Jersey.

eek

Would prefer L/S jersey, but hard to get anything decent in summer weight fabric.

I get an allergic type reaction on exposed skin on the back of my neck and upper forearms/lower upper arms from sun exposure even when slathered in maximum sunblock.

Sunblock wears off while long sleeve jersey gets hot. Can't win!

And then there's these "cool arm sleeves" (found on eBay and elsewhere).

Colour specially chosen for CT.

Search for arm coolers in ebay. I have bought several sets from Korea and they're brilliant. They do actually keep your arms cool - I prefer wearing them to sunscreen.

+1 for arm coolers. I too bought some cheapies on ebay and have been using them all this summer in the Qld heat. A bit warm on some of the stinking hot & humid days we had, but still way more comfortable for me than water resistant sunscreen.

Pearl Izumi make white perforated/ventilated arm coolers. They seem to available in most bike shops and online. I have 2 pairs as the first I bought based on measurements ended up too log but still wearable.

The only issue is that one pair is now grey due to being washed with cloured items.

I recommend them.

I was when I was also using it on my arms. Since I started using the 'sun arms' however, I almost always forget to put sunscreen on my legs (and nose :( ).

Columbia titanium range of long sleeve tee shirts such as:

I've never umderstood buying dedicated cycling jerseys (especially branded ones) instead of something that won't look out of place off the bike but each to their own. These are what I use for a range of activities and love them. Buy them from OS rather than paying $80 locally.

I have PI ones but I tend to use sunscreen as they are hot. Also, they turn grey when washed and everyone I know with them has this issue.

I'll usually skip the legs if my ride is for less than an hour or so. Any longer than that, or if it's 35+C, and I do the legs as well.

Cheers,
Simon.

Loving the picture on the cellbikes website for the pearl izumi sunsleeves - triathlete with sunsleeves & no-sleeve shirt. Could be some really funky tan-lines going on there...
