I need some advice.

This is me standing up straight:

This is me when I lean forward:

I have had this occasionally over the years and usually it is two trips to the chiro and I am all better. I have now had 10 chiro adjustments and 5 trips to the physio and it is not getting any better. I have been doing plenty of stretching - both the physio and chiro say my flexibility is good. I will go in, both are able to get me straight, but by the end of the day or when i wake up the next morning I am 'out' again. We have had our bed for 3 years so I don't think that is the issue as I can go for months without this problem occurring.

Stretches I have been concentrating on are the hip flexor, glutes, and hamstrings, plus the wife has taken to my ITB's with a rolling pin. I am able to do a squat, and I am able to put my bent leg on my opposite knee when sitting and lean forward - both with minor ISJ pain(although I couldn't do this when it first happened). I do seem to get alot of pain in my back and it goes funny when I do a standing quad stretch??

Has anyone got any other ideas on what I could do.

To say I am getting mega frustrated is an understatement.

Hi,
Just wondering if your chiro or anyone has said anything about scoliosis to you?

You look a bit like how I am nowadays, but I am a bit older than you.

pelvis looks level.
if you came to see me, i imagine i would suggest you need
1. spinal xray - ? structural scoliosis - ie bent spine
2. lumbar CT - discogenic lateral shift - disc slipped sideways.

most likely i'd tell you to forget about your leg stretch stretching and concentrate on the source of your problems, which is likely to be spinal...
good luck 8)

There are a number of orthopedic tests that should be performed to differentiate between a SIJ (Sacro-iliac Joint), lumber facets (articular joint component) and lumbar disc causes. Basic neurological tests such as vibration sensation to your toes, pain to the various dermatomes and muscle strength to the big toe, foot, quad, hip flexors, hamstrings, gluts. Also looking at specific pain patterns/ locations. As well as your over-all distortion pattern (how your body is holding itself against gravity.)

What you need is an accurate diagnosis, then treatment.

Depending on your previous history and the improvement or deterioration of the above tests, that would guide me in your treatment.

Bottom line is, you need an accurate diagnosis. Views are probably required but depending upon your symptoms/ progression, that would tell me whether to get an xray or MRI. (IMO MRI's are superior to CT's and for their cost (usually around $250), they are much more cost effective.)
