yeah its seems a while ago TLL. Actually, I could probably measure it in clothes and cycling kit thrown out.

New stuff looks good though 8)

I'm heading your way with some friends in Sep/Oct 2013 for 3-4 weeks. Another 10-12 kgs off would be good, some off those hills are pretty big  anything to carry less weight up those would be good.

Am still too scared to face the scales, but can report another half an inch lost around my waist. Probably helps that I have been sick this week and therefore not eating! Will see how I'm going in another fortnight or so.

Happy to be in double digits - just!! Can't remember the last time, maybe in high school.
What a great effort Redbull. I can completely relate to your story. I started at 127kg and now at 95kg. Pushing for around 87.
Keep up the good work but remember, your target weight when achieved will mean nothing IF YOU DON'T MONITOR YOUR WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF. FOREVER.

Cheers mate and keep it up.

I hit 93 kgs this morning ... thats 10 kgs off in the last 3 months :D .
I was 92.5 two years ago before I hurt my back, so nearly back there... but aiming to go a lot lower.Haven't been under 90 since around 2000, so that is the next goal. Then only 5kgs to go till I hit 85 :D .
...and even better in my wife's opinion is that the 6pack is starting to show  .

This is why I’m happy with my progress. I’m not “dieting” I’m eating clean (almost Vegan), I’m eating yum and I’m not going without. I’m not “exercising” I’m commuting to work via a bike and the non-commute rides I do are genuinely enjoyable. Compare this with my workmate. He’s lost more weight in less time however he hate’s going to the gym and he hates his diet. I’m not saying I’m better than him, however I think that my progress is sustainable over the long term.

Yes good for you, you sound as though you have it wired. The main things I changed were MUCH less alcohol, and very little processed food. When I shop at the supermarket I try to completely avoid the aisles. That's where all the processed food is and by and large it's rubbish. Like you I'm happy to eat fresh.

Further to a couple of my earlier posts on this thread about the loss of weight vs. the increase in appetite through cycling it might be interesting for some to have a look at how the weight sneaks up on you in the first place. My experience can be seen here - basically age and inactivity conspire to make us gain weight unless we remain vigilant, and it will take a lot of exercise and food-discipline to shift it.

At 50-60 yo, you are trying to turn back the tide of 30-40 years of lifestyle habits. Retirement and control of your own time helps a lot - it is much more difficult for those of us with work/family commitments to factor in. To this end the role of cycling (or walking) as a commuting option should be seriously considered as a way of controlling your weight when time is an issue. Commuting under your own steam also turns this time into your time (for health and exercise) rather than time spent by you on your employers behalf. Your real hourly rate of pay (discussed elsewhere) rises significantly when you consider this.

My young fellas rugby coach asked me if I wanted to join the vets team a couple of weeks ago... I politely declined.
Anyway... Over 200kms of racing over the weekend in heat and I put on weight lol!...and recovery day yesterday was binge as well. Back on track today.
Kate hotness Moss thread aside... Nothing motivates me more to lose those final kgs than suffering like a dog on big climbs next to riders 20-30kgs lighter than me!.

Two inches lost around the top, and one lost around my hips - slowly closing in on measurements that start with a '3' and not a '4'. I may be able to buy 'normal sized' clothes again soon!

Thought I might chip in for something different.

Height 186cm
Goal: 85-87. (2010)
Goal: 83-85. (2011 revision.)
Goal: 76-80. (2011 revision2.)

01/04/10 107.5 kg
02/01/11 87.8 kg
01/06/11 79.0 kg
31/12/11 76.5 kg
19/06/12 75.3 kg

No change for me... I'm on goal and that's where I'm sticking. Most of this year I've been ranging through 75/76. :)

Well first check in since 23rd April... not managed to get on the bike much which is not good... but my work location has a lunch time walk of 5km including 2 category 5 climbs at an altitude of 1500m.... which has done wonders for me..
23/4/12 105.9kg
19/6/12 100.8kg
Nice steady weight loss... no radical diet... just cut down on the booze and cut down on bread. already didn't eat much processed food....so hopefully will be below 100kg for the first time in many years.... I think since I discovered Guiness and Newcastle Broon Ale....

Weighed in this morning at 76.5kg. That's down from 90kg at the start of the year, so feeling bl00dy fantastic...!!

leanest I've been in over 15 years too (since before the kids were born). Had to go out and buy new jeans on the weekend, as my oldest daughter was saying my old 'baggy jeans' looked ridiculous... Even though I'm a bloke, it felt really good having to buy new jeans. Felt even better when my wife commented on how good I was looking in them... :D

Cheers,

19/05/12 106.2

04/06/12 106.5
13/06/12 105.5
29/06/12 104.7... Don't know how that's happening. Haven't ridden in a week due to illness and the wet (which is good that they came at once) diet has not been too disciplined, but not too bad either. Drinking less, which to my disappointment seems to be the ticket.

Plan to be sub 100 for the Brisbane to GC ride in a few months... 95kg ideally

Poor dietary choices (Rubbish from smoko shop) coupled with wife being sick (stress and no riding) means that my weight loss has stagnated. I’ve been hovering around BMI 30 give or take 0.1 for the past two weeks.

I can finally report having lost a tiny bit more off my waist - now hovering around the 73-74cm mark, which is a big improvement on my original 81. (Now that I am making small improvements, I'm measuring in cm instead of inches, just so I can 'see' the progress better). Still not back to the Glory of my Youth, but only another 8 or so cm to go. I am still too scared to hop on the scales (I fear it is around 75kg+, which is not good on a 5'2" woman) ... is it essential to know how much you weigh, if you are trying to become smaller?

It helps Shann.

I avoided scales for years - you know men, if you can't/don't measure/look/talk about it then its not happening LOL. Denial is not just a river in Africa!!

Then I started measuring (once a week only) and started recording. The constant little achievements was really quite motivating and within a period of time the sum of weight loss is very encouraging.

Just remember that its lots of little small losses that make for big gains. It's taken me nearly 18 months of loosing to get where I am now - and I think its slowing down, but in actuality its still just slowly coming off.

Good luck with it - but remember the harder you work the luckier you get.

Start 27/12/2010 - 151.3 kgs
Check In 27/6/2010 - 125.2 kgs
Check in 27/12/2011 - 109.7 kgs

Goals

Weight - 90kg
Kms - 8000

2012 to date.

10/03/2012 - 106.0 kg
1/04/2012 - 103.3 kg, 708.34km (YTD 1,937.42 of 8,000)
02/05/2012 - 102.5, 827.24km (YTD 2774.25 of 8,000)
05/06/2012 - 99.6kg, 448km (YTD 3222.25 of 8,000kms)
02/07/2012 - 96.6kg, 668km (YTD 3890.25 of 8,000kms)

Need a little more consistency in the riding. I have also been running this month for the city to surf - I wouldn't say I'm loving it like the bike, but its not as bad as I thought it would be.

Hi all, I'm new here and it's a great place. I'm sharing house temporarily with another cyclist (and BNA member) here on the Sunny Coast for a while and I'm going to try and shed some Kg's over the next few months.
I'm 91kg and my goal is 74kg.
I'll report in later.

[quote="The Walrus"]I actually saw 82 on the scales today...well it was 82.9!

That's 9 kilos down since April 4th..happy with that but pulled my hamstring today so might go backwards now!

Down to about 78 kilos from 92 in April. I was targeting 75 but I'm starting to look a bit scrawny so I'm concentrating on toning what I have and settling for 77/78 kilos...apparently that's my ideal weight for my height! Happy days!

On a sour note my experiment with road bikes hasn't worked so I now have a very expensive ornament with two wheels sitting in the house!
