That was my experience as well ... well the specialist did try an injection of steriods, well this was done three times. The first under ultrasound by referral by the GP but the doctor at the radiological clinic managed to put the steriods into the wrong place. The specialist then tried a shot at his rooms and then subsequently one under an MRI. None of the injections worked and eventually it cleared up after about 18 months as the specialist said it would at the start of it all.
Oh he was strongly of a negative view of physiothérapie as a treatment.
