Lower Quad Near Knee Problem??

Postby JKohn » Sun Jul 29, 2012 4:39 pm

The lower part of my inside quad(near the knee) occasionally gets this stabbing pain when I take off at the lights and I feel like my whole leg collapses underneath me. When I am off the bike it is also a bit tender to touch, but no amount of quad stretching helps (I can't seem to stretch that particular muscle).

Any ideas?

Your VMO?

Ruled out bursitis? Meniscal tear? Cartilage tear? VMO tear? Had any patella dislocations?

I don't think it is a trapped nerve, feels muscular.

According the the diagram on the link I would very much say it is the VMO.

Before I had my left knee patellofemoral reconstruction my VMO was essentially not connected for about two weeks (after a pretty nasty patella dislocation). The number of times it failed on me during everyday walking was unbelievable. I'd get it looked at for tears, first and foremost, cause it may not come good with rest alone.
