Re: Recovery DrinksI find a long black quite refreshing after a hard ride
On a hot day I'll have a Powerade or similar, otherwise it's just plenty of water. Cycle touring blog and tour journals: whispering wheels...
Re: Recovery DrinksDépends what you are recovering from. For training I just eat and drink normal stuff. But I do find them handy after a race / on a stage race / when finishing a training ride far from home... As I want to get the recovery process started quickly after a hard effort and not an hour or so later when I get home.
I have a free supply of SIS stuff so use that... Usually chuck a small bottle of long life milk in the car to mix with the powder when ready plus a can of fruit to get some easy to digest carbs in.
Re: Recovery DrinksChoccy milk FTW!!
Re: Recovery Drinks
LOL, I was planning to buy stuff from SIS. Are they any good? I love riding, not training
Re: Recovery DrinksThey are all much the same to me... I like my recovery drinks with milk, but the SIS ones are good with water as well unlike some I have tried!.
Re: Recovery Drinksfood will do, Didnt see Tommy Godwin sucking on any gu
If you can't explain it simply, then you don't understand it well enough.
Re: Recovery Drinks
Have you tried Dextro before? and if you have, how does SIS compare to it? I love riding, not training
Re: Recovery Drinks
Nah he was probably smoking and drinking alcohol like all good people of that era
Re: Recovery Drinks
No I haven't even heard of it sorry.
Re: Recovery Drinks
+1. Read some sciencey stuff a while back and the choc milk was recommended as the best value recovery drink. bychosis (bahy-koh-sis): A mental disorder characterised by symptoms, such as delusions or hallucinations, that indicate impaired contact with reality not containing bicycles.
Re: Recovery Drinks
Then I suggest you to try it out. Even though it's my first and only sports nutritient supply, I must say that it tastes pretty good on my scale. I love riding, not training
Re: Recovery Drinks
By the way, does the SIS Go Energy come with a scoop or something? cause it looks like it doesnt since it's in a bottle. And if it doesnt, how do you measure how much you need without using the SIS bottle? like, does it say how much grams of powder you need per ... milliliters? I love riding, not training
Re: Recovery DrinksI get mine in a sachet ( freebies after all )... http://www.thefeedstation.com/recovery/ ... ingle.html . There is a link on that page to the ingredients.

Re: Recovery Drinks

Re: Recovery DrinksFor some reason I only get banana... tastes good with milk so i don't mind... must try it with water next time
Performance first... taste second
Re: Recovery Drinks
Is it like watery? or is it like a milkshake? I love riding, not training
Re: Recovery DrinksIt's like a milkshake for me as I mix it with milk. Why milk?... I don't know but I struggle to eat after big efforts and that is one of the few things I have an appetite for.
Re: Recovery Drinks
ah, I see. Thanks for the help I love riding, not training
Re: Recovery DrinksI started using Hammer's Recoverite about 12mths ago and found it made a huge difference to me.
I don't use it after every ride but i do use it for rides over 2 - 3hrs+ and before using it i was really tired after a big ride for the rest of the day or sometimes weekend, now i take it as soon as i finish the ride, it's just a powder added to water, and it works a treat. I guess it depends on how serious you want to get, i was just using gatorade or water but decided to ditch them for the Hammer products as a riding friend was raving about them, i did some reading about them and they seemed good and they made a huge difference to me personally, a month before last years around the bay i decided to go just with them and completed it in good time with no other energy bars or food and felt great after the recovery drink so i can't argue with that. Re: Recovery DrinksI mash up a banana into a glass of milk. Thinking of getting some cocoa powder to add to it next time I'm going to the super market.
Re: Recovery DrinksAfter training I just eat and drink my regular food but I make sure I have some extra portion of protein.
