i have osteoarthritis in both knees. The orthopod has ruled out a knee replacement given my age and I am still active. One of his recommended treatments is an injection of synvisc which is essentially a gel that is injected into the joint and acts as a lubricant and shock absorber. The injection lasts for around 6 months is generally given using a ct scan for positioning and fairly expensive.
Has anyone had one of these treatments and is it effective in relieving pain ?

I got diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my left knee and I suspect my right knee is similar but not confirmed. When I had the MRI back in 2007 I had literally just caught it. Had wear and tear on the inside of my left knee joint.
Told me to hop back on my bike and cycle as it's low impact and go back and see him in 10 years. Also told me to take glucosamine but no guarantee's will do anything, well that worked for me and I've not had any repeat of the knee issues I was getting from 2005-2007. I was 30 when I saw him
