Really hurts to P

Postby trek52 » Sat Mar 23, 2013 6:14 pm

Hi Everyone

I am having terrible problems with burning/sharp pain in my !!! spammer !!! when I urinate. So far I have had 2 urine tests that are clear of any infection or abnormality, a blood test that was all normal and an ultrasound that said my kidneys, bladder and prostate were all good. I have also been to urologist and he checked my equipment and a prostate check.
He didn't know what it was either.
It has been going for 2 weeks. The problem is that it comes and goes, it does seem to somehow link to riding. I raced tues night and it was there after the warm up but was gone at 8pm that night. Was ok on wed but rode home from work and it was horrific wed night and Thursday. But ok again on fri. Fri night I rode around the block to try a new seat and it can back for one wee that night but has now been ok for 5 wees since.
I have been drinking plenty of water etc

I am not new to cycling and race and win A grade races in SYD so I have been around a while. Set up changed in jan but I have been on rolls saddles for 20plus years.

I am going to try an adamo or smp etc but am to scared to ride ATM.

Anyone have any ideas could I have hurt the perenium and it is inflamed ? Could it be a nerve ? It is only sore in my
!!! spammer !!! no where else. Although if I press hard on the bit behind my nuts there is slight pain but nothing major.

Please tell me someone has some ideas ? I really don't want to be off my bike for to long and I want it to go away. Any ideas ???

Based on what you've said above, has anything else changed apart from bike setup? If no, then I would go back to the old setup and see if that solves the problem.

If there have been other changes, then reverse each one but one at a time so if/when there is an improvement, you know which element was responsible.

prostate cancer? What was your last PSA result?

If you are hydrated and getting pain thats NOT a good thing. My Dad died from that a few years back. He ate the standard Australian diet. I know another local Radelaide cyclist, Peter Bond that reversed his prostrate cancer and got his PSA right down to teenage levels from pure dietary change. His urologist didnt want to know anything about it lol!

Your rolls saddle is a non ergonomic saddle? If so, for goodness sake try an adamo, smp or specialized saddle with the cut out. Your junk will thank you for it! The last time I did a 100+k ride on a non-ergo saddle I lost all sensation down there for nearly 3days.. no pain, just total numbness. I use a Specialized Roman Gel and scared to try anything else now. I don't know how people ride without an ergonomic seat?

Get a saddle with a big cutout! SMP works well for me. I have had a lot of issues down there and have had numerous surgeries, procedures etc. my issue is a section of my urinary tract that closes up from my body continually healing what the Dr suspects was some sort of blunt force trauma in my childhood. Different issue to you and my symptoms are quite different but I have seen a few specialists and they all say cycling should be no problem IF you use a seat with a cutout.

I'm quite aware of pressures down there and am amazed that people can use any other saddle. Your genes are a lottery and some people could probably ride around on the seat post without any long term issues but you help your odds a lot using a cutout saddle. It's worth a try.

a mate of mine suffered similar symptoms, the pain was caused by infections down there and it turned out to be his spleen(?) that was eventually removed.

Does time off the bike (eg, recovery week) ease the symptoms?
