Muscle/skin temp after ride.

Postby nezumi » Thu Jul 24, 2014 7:13 pm

I have noticed a significant difference in the temperature of my skin/muscles over different areas of my body following a ride.

Back (lower and upper) - quite warm.
Belly - cold!
Bum - cold!

Just wondering if this variation is common and expected?

This is the same for me.

I am guessing it has to do with body fat? Blood is pumping through muscle tissue producing the warmth but does not travel through fat hence the cold...

Could be wrong...

More important organs in torso too. The region around kidneys always seems to want to be warm.

It is common and expected. I ride and run. When I get home I have cold parts and warm parts. When the weather is cold the cold parts are really cold. When I feel hot and sweaty after a run it is strange to find very cold parts of my body but that's just the way it is.

Muscle use -> Increased blood flow -> Warmer
No use -> Decreased blood flow -> Cooler

Nothing surprising.
