I know everything on the internet should be taken with a hearty pinch of salt, so thought I'd ask the locals, as it were. But just knowing that if I ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time, there are solutions. For now, my mind's at rest. It'll be a while before I know dates. I'm saving those for when I've settled on the where.
Last time I was there I was in my 20s, daft and gung ho. I'm doing my best to ignore everything I did back then, because I'm too old to get away with those antics again
As for the bities... my mate in Sydney is already winding me right up about those
Here's the thing.....if you were here in your 20s and didn't use sun protection the damage could have been done then depending on the time of year and the amount of sun exposure. A lot of Aussies in their late 50s - early 60s and beyond are paying now for what we did (or didn't) do for ourselves in our teens. These days the annual trip to the skin doctor means an average of three things being frozen/burned off or cut out.
Even so, just bashing on a good 50+ blockout (the sports kind so you don't sweat it off) every few hours is enough to sort it, remembering to get ears, nose, backs of legs and back of neck during the rub-down. Even toes should you choose to ride in sandals.
Just watch the brands of blockout. There is one that has been discussed on these forums that will stain/bleach clothing.
