Good news. I'm sure that your general bike-riding fitness has helped in your recovery with this. Another good reason for us all to ride our bikes

While coughing can end up hurting your ribs, this little bug that is going around is nasty. I've had it now and could not stop coughing, it developed into a productive cough and I needed antibiotics. I went to the hospital yesterday and they did an ECG and warned me it could possibly show the early signs of pericarditis (infection of the sack around your heart). Make sure you get double checked.

I had the session with the lung guy last Thursday. The good news is my lungs are all clear. My heart is fine. Still waiting on the written report on the doppler ultrasound of the legs, but the technician said there was only a small clot left about 1cm long in my left calf - a massive improvement.
The bad news is he wants to keep me on anticoagulants for life. For this particular compound (rivaroxaban) there is no antidote. So if I crash and hit my head hard it could be rather difficult. A collarbone would be less of an issue. So I have some concerns about MTB, as little bumps and offs are to some degree part of the game, but I haven't had a major off (collarbone) since 2012.
Apparently it wears off in 24hrs so I'm thinking timing my intake might reduce the risk. I will discuss this with my GP.
Anyway, I ventured out for my first group ride since some time in June and while McCarrs Ck Rd climb was rather uncomfortable I didn't blow up and I wasn't last to the summit.

I spoke to my specialist about 'timing' the dose (which I was already doing) and he said it was the best solution. So for me I take it straight after my morning ride meaning it will have the greatest amount of time to clear my system before my next ride. I'm also on it for life and a keen mtb'er.
I think unless you are doing DH or something I wouldn't worry too much, speeds are generally a lot less on the mtb than roadie (though you do come off a lot more!)
I hit a tree hard enough to knock my front teeth out while on rivaroxaban and lived to tell the tale!

Good news TG, glad you are progressing. It can be disheartening waiting for test results.
Enjoy the riding !!
