A little off tipoc but here goes...

On the irrationality of looking down the nose to cyclists in "wannabe lycra" etc, it has always struck me that no-one sees issue with footy fans, cricket fans, etc who wear team gear.

As far as I can see the substantial difference between a cyclist wearing sponsor-branded and tour team bike gear and non-cyclists wearing team and player based gear is that cyclists are likely to be closing in on the physical condition whereas others just get slower, fatter and lazier every year.

The early marketing focus on the the wider seats at the recently opened Optus Stadium in Perth says it all.

I do....... im sure im a very small minority, but i just don't get the whole dress up in scarfs and footy gear etc and queuing up with 50,000 other peeps just to get some atmosphere.

Remove a few EPO cyclist from the 80s/90s for an even better result
