I use either sun screen, or some summer sleeves. The ones i have are called “Ice Rays”, which work pretty well. However, I often prefer to just use the sun screen as it is more comfortable due to the cooling effect on the skin of evaporation. You don’t get that with the sleeves.
Maybe I am lucky. I have mediterranean ancestry and I don’t easily burn, so SPF50+ sunscreen leaves me looking like i have just stayed inside all day.

i'm a big fan of lightweight LS jersey too. not many in the market and what limited choices there are are often rather pricey.
i use them especially for summer commutes (i often have an early start which means commuting home during the hottest & sunniest time of the day).
i tried one from Alibaba, which cost not more than $20. but it is thin and the quality is poor. the zipper looks like it will fail at any moment so i've resorted to not unzipping entirely when removing it.
my favourite is still my BNA Cuore LS one.
Been eyeing the GE LS jerseys but not pulled the trigger yet as they'll be mainly for the weekend rides.
i do have summer sleeves (Ice rays - http://www.icerays.com.au ) and alternate them when the LS jerseys are in the wash. i don't dislike the sleeves. i just find that i'm very prone to smearing them with grit or grease (they're white).

I much prefer to cover up rather than lather up in sunscreen on the arms, hence why I use LS jerseys most of the time.
NOTE: to add to my earlier rather long post I completely forgot my LS BNA jersey which I bought on here a few years ago and which is still probably my favourite kit along with the bib knicks - though the bibs are getting a little worn now.

I've had L/S versions of S/S jerseys, but found now that sun sleeves are more practicable.
They can be added/removed during the ride, and when hot, being tight fitting, a douse with water makes a great cooling effect.
Sunscreen is my least preferable option (for my arms), and as I feel the heat, tend to start my rides early.

Don't use sunscreen?Arbuckle23 wrote:You know there's a fix for that?Mububban wrote:Putting sunscreen on very hairy legs is kinda gross
Not sure I'll ever get to the stage of shaving my legs. I'd probably end up with the "hamster pants" effect of only shaving the exposed parts and staying fuzzy under the knicks

I don't wear long sleeves because I prefer short sleeves. I've had so much sun on me over the decades I'll just live with it. I only wear a sleeved jacket under about 7C so not often.
I think it's a preference thing. Possibly also that notion that Australia is a sunburnt country and never gets cold.

Do get yourself checked out by a skin specialist every few yearsDavidS wrote: I've had so much sun on me over the decades I'll just live with it.
Our work place now has everyone inspected ever year. I got a few things burnt of this year.
First year we did it (just with a project of 32 people) we had two blokes end up with a fair amount of surgery.

Easy fix, shave them!Mububban wrote:In summer I use the UV sleeves I used to wear when playing golf, they're made to be skin tight and help wick sweat away to evaporate. I can't bring myself to wear white leg sleeves just yet but never say never. Putting sunscreen on very hairy legs is kinda gross

The current trend in short sleeve cycling jerseys is towards the race fit which is harder for along sleeve jersey... it is essentially then an aerosuit and may as well be a full body aerosuit.
Good reason for long sleeves but I find them hotter (less confirtable) and am fairly well conditioned to sunscreen arms, legs, neck and face.
Glad to see some votes for the BNA long sleeve jersey (from Cuore).

I have the GE Allsorts arm coolers https://www.groundeffect.co.nz/collecti ... rm-coolers but to be honest I can't agree with the glowing reviews. They don't allow enough airflow for my taste so they are way too hot when it's warm and sunny. They are good for cooler mornings though.
Unlike their winter sleeves you can't roll them up either as they are not at all stretchy.
