hey i have a giant boulder 09 and today i went for 50 km bike ride.
i was raining a little and we rode on some gravel paths.
i got home and noticed that my chain was making a slight crunching noise and as i pedaled it wasn't as smooth as always.
i tried cleaning it as much as i could but i don't know how to do it properly.
could anyone help me out, thanks.

Bad choice. WD40 is primarily a solvent, not a lubricant.hsv.junior wrote:what type of oil?
does wd 40 work?
There are plenty to choose from, just go into any of the local bike stores. If you really want to go cheap, even sewing machine oil can work but be prepared for dirty chains.
BTW, lube sparingly and wipe any excess off. Don't apply lube directly on the cassette and chainring.

Try Rock N Roll Blue or Gold Junior. It's got enough solvent to clean a lotta the crap out before the wax does the lube job for you.
