Brake Upgrade

Hey all,
I have a Specialized Hardrock Sports about 6 years old now. I have been riding a few bikes with hydraulic brakes and they leave my cable disk brakes for dead I put in new pads recently. my questions are these,

1) Would my brakes improve with new cables I think they are streaching?

2)Can I retro fit hydraulic brakes to my bike?

1) Your brakes will improve with new cables. Probably more so because of nice, clean, lubricated outers than because of stretching.

2) Yes, you can retro fit hydraulic brakes to your bike.

Also consider BB7 cable brakes. They certainly have the power of hydraulic brakes, but are slightly lacking in modulation. Having cable brakes already you will love them. I have one bike with BB7s and another with XT hydraulics and I still love the BB7s. Virtually no weight differece either.
