XT disc brake caliper with m486 levers?

Postby Huihahaa » Sat Jun 18, 2011 1:26 pm

I could use some advice guys.My current set-up is shimano bmr486 disc brakes.I am in desperate need of more stopping power on the back, because of nasty commuting route, cars cutting me off all the time, inability to lock the rear wheel.Found decent price Shimano M775 XT caliper that I would like to buy. Will it work with my current levers and centre-lock rotor or should I buy the whole set?

As far as I know you can mix and match different models of Shimano Levers and calipers.

Most of your braking is done with the front wheel. Try new pads and a bigger rotor on the front. Skidding the rear wheel will not stop you in a shorter distance. YMMV
