where to ride in the wollongong area

Hello all,
I have just emigrated from the UK, and as a very Keen mountain biker I was wondering where to ride. I Like all disciplines. I used to race DH and recently ride what can only be described as aggressive trail riding. I am in the Wollongong region, Balgownie. There is a lot of forested area up on the escarpment but not sure where to go.

Any advice on where to/ not to ride will be a great help.

Your best bet for Wollongong DH trails would be here

There is nothing strictly legal though. For XC you could head up to Appin or Mt Anan Botanic Gardens.

Or you could always head down the coast to Nowra and ride with SCUM

We have 4 XC tracks within about 15 minutes of each other plus a legal DH track another 30mins down the coast.
