I happened to recently post this video just edited from footage last year 16th December 2015.
Turns out there's a Fly12 giveaway on BNA so timely extra use for it.
It was a highlight ride for me early on with the Mukluk Ti and Velo Orange Casey's Crazy Bars just fitted, this guy ran with me for a bit on the out and return laps, gave me some great audio clips summing up the joy of the ride. I've raced dogs (learnt not to do that) so this is my only career win, it's really effort to keep up with a jogger, this was max effort to pull any metres on him into a morning headwind.

Question. Are people putting the SRAM 1x12 Eagle onto fatbikes? Or does this presume too much? Seems like the fatties are avoiding too much expense because they seem to get "abused" quite a bit?

I'm sure someone's doing anything and everything.
The 45T rear the main appeal difference to 42T 11sp that I noticed, and the gold bling ;)

Fatbike World group is much more interesting as someone in Asia is usually doing something wild, the numbers turning out in their photos make us look irrelevant.

Bump for Global Fat Bike Day.

Out of 4 fat bikes I'm caught between seasonal change and only have my 29x3 plus bike ready to roll! Working on changing it in next 2 hrs...

Pretty much that and the fact that it opens up extra areas to ride. I have done the The Thirroul to Gerringong ride a number of times on the road and bike paths. Last Sunday gave me the chance to the ride from a different perspective on the beach.

It does make the ride take a hell of a lot longer though. I rode from Nowra to Thirroul then back to Kiama last year on my SS and it took me 9.5hrs to do 167kms. Thirroul to Shoalhaven Heads on almost every beach took 7.5hrs for 89kms.

Bumping this to ask what if you have any thoughts, expereinces, recommendations on the route. How did you find the Coast Walk from Kiama to Gerringong on the fat bike ?

It's probably the best of all my bikes to do it on. It's mainly grass and rough.

The Fatbikes Downunder facebook group has 1600 members on it now, it's public so be careful of being over-active, family members will see it all in your activity status updates fed to them that you don't realise :D

Tip for groups, specify bike or bicycle in your title. Could get interesting membership growth with Southcoast Fatty Collective :D

Do you have a link to the group?
The tags show up but can't hit the group.

i'm now entertaining the idea of getting a fatbike. so many brands and i'm not familiar with many and not sure what to look for. any trips? want to get something decent instead of a reid bike which i thought about doing before.

a few days ago i was going to go 27.5+ but the one i want isn't in stock. or i can still go 29er, but i feel a fat bike now would be good for future investment (fatbike touring), and beach/gravel/maybe snow riding. it also seems more forgiving on downhill so maybe that's better to start with.

Looks like I'll be getting Fat sometime early next year. I've got a Muru on order.
