Seen at Interbike. Looks like there might be some suspension fatbikes on their way:

And I think this is a Trek unit:

Two observations:
1) I see so many up-side down forks on these fat bikes that I can only imagine that they will return again for another run in more conventional MTB territory;
2) Those duallie fatties must have some massive suspension voodoo going on to manage the pedal bob...or they'd be true boat anchors on the uphills.
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle

wouldn't the suspension be identical to it's anorexic sibling? the design is still the same, tyre size wont affect it. if anything they could run increased pressures as the tyres can soak up the extra stiffness.

It probably is the same design...but those tyres do bob a bit even on a hardtail fattie because of the low pressures and I'd have though the rear suss would exacerbate it...or at least not work well enough to control it. Unless of course it can be locked out...

As for running higher pressures on a fattie...I wouldn't want to do that because our local fatties (no I don't own one) get enough dramas with tyre staking as it is. Besides it kind of runs counter to the point...

The USD fork allows for a massive bridge for torsional rigidity. It's great in that respect.

Those Ti framed bikes we will most likely see here in Australia very soon. The rear suspension is based on a Horst Link so should work okay. Unsprung weight however is up there so I'd say that it's going to take a while before the shock damping characteristics are sorted. Hopefully the upper linkage plates will be modified for more pleasing asthetics.... And fingers crossed it won't be a porker and lose the playfulness that fat bikes tend to deliver.

Had a look over the Norco Bigfoot fattie in the flesh on Friday. $1,800 straight off the floor. First impressions are that it's far lighter than expected (and could easily lose 2 kgs with clever [but not necessarily cheap] parts choice) and that it handles the duck and weave around the bike racks nicely. The Alivio driveline is far from special but it's probably quite fine. There's no front rack mounts and one of the two bottle cages is out front on the down tube so it's no touring fattie. The front derailleur is an E-type and would easily sail into the scrap bin at my place. Wheels are as one would expect (round but not light or beautiful) and come shod with very decent 26x4" Vee Rubber tyres. Frankly...for the money...as a recreational fattie...you could spend quite a lot more and do not not very much better...it's well worth a squiz.

Hi, awesome to see more brands making fatbikes.
If possible can anyone who has a new bike bike do a review.
Also for tyres and forks.
Most of the reviews we get are based in US which has more info about the bikes in snow.
Unfortunately over here in the west, I will be waiting to the next ice age for snow.
Cheers

I have only had mine since Thursday but I spent 7.5hrs riding it on Sunday :D

I am loving it so far. It's just like riding my 29er hardtail but with more grip.

I have not ridden a Puglsey so I can't tell you what it's like compared to that but it feel similar to the Trek Farley and the 9:zero:0 Tusker. Also a lot more nimble than the XL Mukluk I rode.

Crazyjose might be a better man to answer your question.

Here is a short video my mate made on Saturday when we had a Farley, my Fatboy and an On-one Fattie out for a ride.

Sorry, have to ask. What's the fascination with riding on the beach? So many vids of it around now. Is it just because you can?

Pretty much that and the fact that it opens up extra areas to ride. I have done the The Thirroul to Gerringong ride a number of times on the road and bike paths. Last Sunday gave me the chance to the ride from a different perspective on the beach.

It does make the ride take a hell of a lot longer though. I rode from Nowra to Thirroul then back to Kiama last year on my SS and it took me 9.5hrs to do 167kms. Thirroul to Shoalhaven Heads on almost every beach took 7.5hrs for 89kms.

They work well in pea gravel. Really well, the really deep loose stuff that is damn hard work on a normal MTB you blitz through.

Running 3.8" Knards on 65mm rims with the suspension fork, it eats up single track.

Not all beach riding. I went mud riding this morning and I have used it to ride to work.

But I bought it mainly for beach riding. Might even enter the Simpson Desert Bike Challenge again.
