I get a lot of leeway when it comes to me bikes but if I was caught with the GLWs $190 pro hairdryer in the shed I wouldn't be able to ride until the wounds healed. I could sing soprano tho'.

Easy fix.

Bring the wheels into the bathroom and de-sticker them there.

Hopefully, you can lock the bathroom door........

You can borrow mine.

The missus bought a cheapy at some tupperware party type thing for hair product, but the unit had a euro plug so she gave it to me. I just bought a $5 AU adapter and she's fine. Lives in the shed. Came in handy for Frameskin application on the new steed (which has earned its purchase price already: I didn;t choose "trailgumby" as a handle for nothing  )

Option 2 is me B&D paint stripper heat gun. Hmmm... what's that smell? And why is my wheel a funny shape now?

If you can only get the plastic film off the top of the sticker like some of them, then eucalyptus oil will get the rest off.

Its great stuff for sticker residue. I take off anything that is not under a clearcoat.

New addition to the collection - for shopping and picnicking in the local area :-)

Bloody heavy though! Bought it off ebay (first bike I have bought used from the site); old industrial bike but in pretty good nick. Little rusting but needs some TLC. Had to pump the wheels from 0 so will wait tomorrow if there are any leaks.

Not sure about the basket in front and will replace the uncomfy saddle. But I love the bell! It's an old style bell. Wonder where I can get more bells like that.

Have looked for "Trikes Australia" but am only getting Motor Trikes so any pointers to the manufacturer will be appreciated. If it's Aussie-made it will be my first Aussie-made bike! Feels German - clunky and not stylish but very robust.

It is indeed  She's my second GT, I have an old GT Ricochet which is still beautiful to ride... but hard to compare to the new breed of XC bikes.

Just made a new acquisition to the stable. Tried to find a suitable GT roadie but had no luck :(

Hopefully picking it up tomorrow.

Oh what the heck.....

It began life like this:

Image

Then built like this:

Then ridden like this:

Image

Then made filthy like this:

Then lovingly Chauffeured around like this:

Then to be ridden in anger in this year's Simpson Desert Bike Challenge like this (well, the idea is to be pedalling and not pushing in the sand):

It really is surprisingly fun to ride but your gaze keeps drifting lower and lower to frame the fat front wheel inside your field of view. Hard bike to train on though because *everybody* hails you down to have a look and beg a ride. Sensational on soft terrain - but not in mud where the tyres lack lateral stability. Great drifter though.

A simple four bar linkage that is relatively heavy but very effective at taking the sting out of small chatter in the track. The movement feels completely natural and saddle position doesn't really affect action. Quite tunable too with the range and combination of elastomers. They need a bit of maintenance though and can be noisy so you must carry a bit of lube and grease with you - or noise cancelling earphones. Small DU bushes in the linkage pivots do wear quickly and brass shims take care of side thrust. Odd really because the brass shims require fine lubricant that leaches into the DU bush and accelerates wear. Saddle rail clamping mechanism could be stiffer to reduce flex at the rail interface. Saddles with carbon rails creak and groan at that interface.

But, it is effective and I'm buying a second one as spare for the race just in case.
