Wow that's nice. I just got my Scale 960 on the weekend & wish I had that frame now. What is it ?
I find I'm leaning forward more than my last bike, so need to investigate setup a bit more. I assume it's the Scale Geomontry. How are you finding it ?

Yeah would love to try that one day. Wonder if they do it somewhere in the Snowys. Though would much prefer groomed than freshy.

What the flip is the deal with that fork?
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

It's a strut fork. Designed to flex and provide "give" without the pedalling losses from a regular suspension fork.

They're usually found on ti frames with 29er wheels.

One of my occasional riding partners has one. The fork and frame flex gives him about 35mm of effective suspension travel and combined with light low tread height 2.4" rubber is a comfortable and efficient fire trail ride.

And it's very very light - better than most conventional hardtails.

I will take your word for that.
I dont believe it gives any flex whatsoever.
It basically looks very cool and keeps my handlebars the required distance from the wheel.

My frame definitely flexes though.
I can feel it when I get on the bike.

Picked this up yesterday. 2014 Trek Xcaliber 8. Took it for a fling this morning and love it. HEAPS better than the old Giant. The Giant will live on as my new commuter though.

I haven't been on a while, but since my last post, I "acquired" a new MTB for rain / snow and trail to replace my Old Gary Fisher. (above)
Sadly the rims were wearing through on the brake surface, on the old bike.

My mate here, had this bike stitting in his spare room unused.
He made a very grave mistake. His wife wanted a mini-velo, and he went off by himslef to buy one as a surprise for her. He got side-tracked and decided it'd be a great idea to buy two 29ers (matching) so they could go riding together.
Nooooooo!!!!!. She went off her rocker when he arrived home minus the mini-velo.
She put it in the spare room and there it sat for 12 months, unridden. He was sent back to buy the mini-velo.
So I've ended up with her WSD Trek Marlin 29er. Yes a girly colour, but hey, 100% free. After I got it home I swapped the white cables to black, changed to stem, and changed to bars to wider. Put some Conti's on and best of all it now fits perfect.

Snapped my 29er frame while riding on Saturday... So I pulled my new Norco sight carbon out of the shop early to ride on Sunday!

I can't remember if i've posted this one before, just came across it while looking at some old photos.

GT Aggressor that i bought for $20, then fitted Deore V brakes with Ti bolts, carbon bars and seatpost, Mavic Crossmax SL wheels, aluminium forks, XTR RD and drillium cranks. Even went as far as using a plastic thumb shifter on the front and enlarged the drain holes in the frame too, got it to 9.5kgs in the end :D .

Managed to drive 70kms and bring my road shoes instead of my Trail shoes yesterday, Rode anyway in sandals on SPD race pedals, lol legs flying everywhere.

Loving the bike and the X01, but might drop from a 34T to a 32T.
