Changed the fork to rigid, carbon wrapped alloy. Loads of fun but it sure attracts a lot of attention.

Looks even better than the original build, i had a set of plain ally Mosso forks on my XC bike for a while, nice and solid, especially for the price.

Finally finished it, going off the date codes about 1991, Deore DX derailleurs, Deore cranks, couldn't find any more appropriate forks so some late 90s Manitous had to do. Can't wait to see how it rides.

Canti rear and v brakes up front ldrcycles? I thought the pull ratio difference would make the braking sketchy assuming the levers are the same.

The levers are the original ones, which were cantis front and rear but both brakes feel fine

V-Brake levers pull a lot more cable than canti type levers (which are the same ratio as road levers, or close enough). You can make a v-brake lever work well enough with a cantilever brake by playing with the yoke cable (not ideal, but well enough), but the other way (canti type lever pulling v-brakes) I wouldn't have thought the lever would pull far too much cable to make it work effectively - it'd feel like a rock but the actual stopping power would be very weak. Still, if it works, let it be I suppose. otherwise it's a neat looking frame, It looks like you can remove the chain without breaking it due to the way the chain stays are joined further up the seat tube.

2012 Run-out Anthem X Advanced SL1 - too cheap to say no to.
No points for guessing where the photo was taken.
Really impressed with the whole outfit, so much easier to point than my 29er hardtail, full XT kit is sweet, brakes are superb. I am still slow, but not the bikes fault.
Changed to Tubeless (stole the front Nobby Nic off the other half's RZ-140) and the Prologo seat as I find the Fiziks to be quite nasty on my butt.

Hi folks.
Here's my 1989 Mongoose IBOC Team.
I used to have one BITD when I was a courier in Melb many moons and a few kilo's added since then.
I bought off eBay for what I think was a bargain. A few bits are non original, but for now they do the job.
Cheers
Alan

Cool slingshot. I could dig out my old Syncros Hammer & Cycle jersey with Slingshot sponsorship on it to ride that.

And this is an XL frame too!! takes a mixed-taper headset so it has an external bottom cup to add about 7mm. Should be built up by mid January. Will keep updating!
