Not really sure if you guys talk much racing in here, but this was a pretty big result for McConnell, the first Aussie to win a World Cup event since Cadel in 2000. And in his own words completely unexpected....

"I've only been top 20 once. All of the sudden, I come out and win. It's going to take awhile to sink in," said McConnell to Redbull.tv after the race. "It's ridiculous. I'm just speechless."

Brilliant ride. He just reeled them in on a string towards the end there. How exciting was that last lap and a half!

And then to win in a sprint finish!

Have to feel sorry for Absalon - it was all over bar the shouting, until the mud sent his rear derailleur for a trip around his cassette.
