2007 Stumpjumper FSR Comp Rear Shock Problem

Postby the-waves » Mon Aug 19, 2013 9:00 pm

Hi Guys,

I recently took my 2007 Stumpjumper FSR Comp out of storage:

Its in decent shape but the shock needs servicing, which will be over $200. The trouble is that its a 7.75 x 1.75 shock and the closest I can find is a fox RP23 7.75 x 2.00, so .25 too much stroke.

My feeling is that this will be OK and I don't want to spend all that $$$ n an old pretty average rear shock. Can anybody confirm my suspicions?

Why not buy the seal kit and do the service yourself? It's really very straightforward and there are videos on YouTuibe of how to do it.

If its a standard fox shock it's easy ... the kits can be bought for $25 from your LBS (discounted from US$6.00 elsewhere in the world ;) ).

If its a brain shock they seem to be a smaller proprietary size and will need an OEM seal kit
