Australia’s largest and longest running 24 hour race is celebrating its 10th year. Entries are open for the 2008 Scott 24hr MTB Race so get your mates together, enter a team and be part of a Decade of Dirt.

The Scott 24hr MTB Race, which has been described as “the Woodstock of mountain biking”, is a festival style 24hr mountain biking event which caterers to riders ranging from beginner to elite. The Scott 24hr brings people together to really enjoy a weekend of mountain biking with mates.

Over the years the location and name of the race has changed, but the one thing that hasn’t changed is that this is the original and the best 24Hr mountain bike race in Australia – and now it’s the biggest in the world - again!

Don’t miss this great opportunity to ride Mount Stromlo - the venue for the 2008 UCI Nissan Mountain Bike World Cup August 30/31 and the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. All of these race are brought to you by Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC)

Visit corc.asn.au to register your team now

If we can entice our wandering team member back (she moved to Brisbane earlier this year) we're entering the mixed 6 person teams event again. If she can't make it back, I think that I'll play 'Dad' for the other four and look after the camp / mechanicals so that they can keep going.
It's sort of come from nowhere - only two months to go and I haven't been doing much offroad riding recently.
ps. if I ride, I might go retro - an 80's steel hardtail - if I can handle the lack of braking. Sadly, the frame doesn't have disk mounts.

I for one love this event. I have ridden 6 (missed 2000) and been race director twice - I find both equally exhausting but am always happy to be involved

I hit Stromlo on the weekend and it's in fine form. Was just recovering from some rain the day before so there was plenty of mud

Trying to convince a few people to put in a team, dont like my chances though.

I always find it strange that some people are scared of some of the trails at Stromlo but the way we have built it means that every thing has an A,B or C line (or more !). I guess at Stromlo without the trees you can see a little further...though the 280K trees that we planted are really starting to kick along

Only now since I became more heavily involved - before I hated it with a passion while I was riding it  , then the following Monday I was busy suring up my ride for the next year... :)

That seems to be the way with these events for me - a love hate relationship (364 days of love, 1 day of hate)

There were a couple of 12 hour events run a few years back at Eastern Creek

well i had a blast. apart from a few presidential duties I managed to squeeze in a good 5 laps for my team. Great fun - enjoyed both the red and the blue.
Was wondering how you could make 9km of climing fun? I guess the 4km ride down made it worthwhile!

And the blue was so much fun - theWestern wedge tail doubles were my favorite

Great fun, good vibe, looking forward to next year already!

Red Laps were 13.4km and the blue about 14.7km

Despite climbing to the top of the hill the blue ended up with more climbing per lap.
