First ride to get the "oh that hurt" out of the wa

Hi ALL

Had my first real outing today with Ozlegacy at Yarramundi. Boy its been a long time sine I've been on a motorbike in the bush let alone a Mountain Bike. Well I'd have to say, I think I've now gotten my first 'Over the bars" under my belt and the "oh showtime, no time to unclip" fall too

The new bike has the bar ends scraped, a small ding in the rear swingarm and it felt GOOD Really enjoyed my first ride, its a really good course with some nice climbs in it.... There is one small technical climb that has to be mastered, thats now the challenge !!

It sure is different than sitting on the road and I dont miss the cars n trucks at all

Ben, not sure about the name of the climb but I think you've nailed it, the only one I had to get off. I had a 2nd go at it and couldn't get traction I needed to get up however it certainly looks do-able. I don't plan to be walking it for ever

Toolong, oh it was a lot of fun, I had a different impression of what Yarramundi was as we used to take our cars down there 20 years ago. I must admit it was pretty challenging to go quick and stay on but hey, no use wondering what it might be like, needed to experience it myself Slightly jarred the left wrist but otherwise a nice suntan. I'm evening smiling about the ding in the bike all part of the experience.

Kalgrm, thanks mate, once again the kid in me has some fun. Must admit though I probably need to climb more in the seat than standing up and stomping on the pedals, its just the roadie in me

Nice work Pete. They should put a little warning sticker on the bars when you buy an MTB, warning you that you will go flying over the top of them within a few rides.

We'd pay no attention though and it would still happen.

Have you still got the Small block 8s on? What pressure did you stick in?

hahah was a good day just sorry I was out of energy from trying to keep up with Pete in the road sprint earlier that day, 201 on the HRM wasn't nice!!

In typical Sandman style he made it look far to easy and for someones first ride at what is a pretty technical track he did very very well. And the 200km bike trips on the roads has given him the legs to climb anything!!!

Will have to organise a group mtb ride, dont think the "pathway racing" style will work on the dirt though
