Another reason why mtb is better.

Roadies are going to have to stick to sipping low fat soy Frappuccino.

You are riding with the wrong people then if you reckon that's what they all consume. Should have ridden in the Dolomites with our lot last year.

Dirt does funny things to people. One of my favorite events is the Dirty Gran Fondo.

90km of harsh choppy fire road with lots of climbing - check. Crazy nutter descents - yep. Choice off road, cross or mtb (ok no one used a road bike) check. Classic roadie vs mtb rivalry -ditto. Sprinkle generously with an espresso van at mid way, lots of feed stations and a fire pit at the end with beer. I've never seen roadies so scared of dirt, or mountain bikers so flooged from a ride!

Not saying that one is better than the other ... but a case for diversification. or cross-training.

True, but I've always said that roadie is for business, MTB is for pleasure.

That seems like an awfully complicated way of opening a beer. SPD pedals work fine for me, and I have them on my commuting road bike.

Cheers,
