I'm not aligned with any particular "type"; each style offers something different and I'm attempting to draw from all. I guess you could call me a "flitterer"!
I'm studying at the Centre for Adult Education in Melbourne. A two year Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching. I chose this particular path because I didn't want to focus on just one style, and the course broadly covers many different aspects of yoga and various asana styles, with a national qualification at the end. Friends of mine have apprenticed with particular schools in the city and that's another way to do it (lots of schools offering teacher training now) if one particular method of asana/yoga really calls to you.

And to update on my bike purchase, I now have an Electra Amsterdam Sport. Nice red colour. Lovely to ride, although the gears are a bit jumpy since I took it apart in a bike workshop the other week. It ain't fast, but it's comfy.

Now I'm looking for a trailer to cart my daughter to childcare in. Meanwhile we "cycle" together (her on her babytrike) to Grandma's house down the road.

Hi Ladies

Location?
Perth

Road, Mountain, Track... what's your style?
I have a new road bike

Current bike/s?
Orbea Aqua
Diamondback MTB

Riding since?
always loved riding (on and off), but starting to ride regulary in the past 3 weeks :)

Riding because?
I enjoy it, even when it rained on me this morning

Favorite ride?
Along the beach - haven't riden enough to have a 'favourite ride'

Occupation?
Account Manager at an Insurance Broker

Goals?
to get fitter, get slimmer and enjoy it while I do it

Most embarrassing moment on the bike?
I have had 4 clipstacks to date, most embarrassing one was probably yesterday when I was riding with my boss for "ride to work day". I stacked it when we were still - in front of my boss and in front of many other cyclists who were at Dome in Subiaco for their ride to work breakfasts. I got up pretty fast so I'm still hoping not many saw it

Best moment on the bike?
Going down a hill after climbing it

Which section have you spent most of your time in on the forums? Or where do you suspect you'll spend most your time?
So far General Discussion, but I'm not sure...
i love my bike(s)

Sounds pathetic but going down a decent hill without panicking or riding the brake - don't have a lot of confidence in myself yet
That doesn't sound pathetic at all. I do that too. I still hit the brakes when I feel like I'm turning a corner or going around a roundabout too fast

Location?
Canberra

Road, Mountain, Track... what's your style?
I've mostly been doing weekend rides, like to the farmers' markets and into civic for lunch. That said, this week I just started commuting by bike and I do like a bit of mountain biking.

Current bike/s?
Trek belleville mixte 2011
Avanti ridge rider

Riding since?

Early 2010, when we moved to Canberra and had the opportunity to do it more.

Riding because?
I started to share a hobby with my partner. I keep doing it because it's fun, it's a good way to keep fit, and it's cheaper than petrol! What's not to love?

Favorite ride?
I don't have one just yet, but I'm working on it!

Occupation?
Statistical Analyst

Goals?
To lose weight, get fitter and to be able to ride 100kms

Most embarrassing moment on the bike?

Yesterday, actually. Trying out a new seat on the ridge rider, I braked too hard, slid off the front of the seat and... impacted... in a delicate place. Luckily only one person saw me!

Best moment on the bike?
Surviving the trip to Belconnen (yes, I'm currently fairly unfit)

no  it was a little hill :( It was the big hill on the way to west head. I was more scared of not being able to keep pedalling and clipstacking than not actually being able to get up it.

Ok Ms. Tax Accountant, do you have a standard c/km in the logbook if I use my bike to go from one workplace to another work-related activity? ;-)

Well, a bicycle is not considered to be a "car" (smart decision huh!) So there is no cents per km standard rate for a bicycle (am I boring you yet? .........)

Thanks for the welcome!!! I have committed to my first group ride on Saturday - should be fun!!!

Nah....we had a discussion awhile back about whether we could claim ANY aspect of our bike commuting as a tax deduction. I can claim bus tickets from one workplace to another, just wondering why this isn't extended to bike as form of transport.

My guess would be that only motorised transport is covered, and they probably guess that the cost of riding a bicycle is cheap ( :? ) so no need for tax deductions in that area - little do they know!!!

Hi there, lurking for ages. Thought I would finally get around to contributing.

Location?
Newcastle

Road, Mountain, Track... what's your style?
Road.

Current bike/s?
2010 Avanti Giro - my baby - I love it.
Sub lime 1.0. My former love. Now referred to as "the truck" and only reserved for commuting on rainy days when I don't want my baby to get dirty.

Riding since?
Off and on for years.
On the roadie since April 2010.

Riding because?
Signed up for a cycling tour to follow the Tour de France in 2010. Had to get serious and caught the bug big time. Now, I just love it.

Favorite ride?
Hmmm tricky.. Fernleigh track. My longer morning commute past the beaches and harbour - what a way to start the day.

Occupation?
University lecturer.

Goals?
First major goal - make it up Alpe d'Heuz - tick.
Second major goal - Round the Bay in a day - tick.
Third major goal - 200 km Alpine Classic ..... watch this space.

Most embarrassing moment on the bike?
Can't really think of any. Being passed by old men on mountain bikes is pretty bad. Doesn't happen so often these days.

Best moment on the bike?
So many...
French Alps, the Wildon Radmarathon in Austria. Random days when it all comes together and feels wonderful.

Which section have you spent most of your time in on the forums? Or where do you suspect you'll spend most your time?
