Now that's a female cyclist we should all be talking about!
What a fantastic ride, she's nearly as fast as me!

Green with envy - I can do 40 for a short while, but will start huffing after a while. I think I need to buy a "poseur" bike!!!

You'll also needs poseur wheels and carbon biddon cages too. Anything else will be too slow for you CT.

OF COURSE it's about the bike!!! That's what I always say when someone overtakes me or I get dropped!casual_cyclist wrote: It's not about the biketm
But seriously, I've asked a few people who own expensive bikes "Why did you buy such an expensive bike?" and funnily enough the most common answer is "I bought it to motivate myself - if I have a really good bicycle I don't have any excuses not to be the best cyclist I can be"
I think that's a pretty valid answer (regardless of how good these people end up becoming - some of them are clearly better cyclists than me so I guess it works).
I seem to recall the "poseur" thread last year got a bit vicious, but I don't think people buy a swish bike just to ride 5 km to the nearest cafe to brag to their friends. Of course, at the end of the day that may be all that they ever do, but that's okay, that's 5km more than they would have done if they didn't have a bike.

Anna Meares is a goddess of the sport. To come back from a broken neck in Jan 2008 and take silver at Beijing, not to mention a fine list of acheivements since then makes her a true hero.
