MTB newbie suggestions

I've just bought a Giant Anthem X3. I'm used to a road bike (Giant Avail) but want to hit some trails.
Any suggestions on learning how to ride a MTB?

Find a relatively local MTB Club .... many clubs hold introductory rides for p[eople getting into the sport or for partners/friends of club members already entrenched within it...

Not sure where or who these are in your area - perhaps advise which city/locale you're in and more info can come to you from 'locals'.
