Now we need to get her gloves, jersey and all the other stuff I'd like but can't justify for a recumbent...

Mrs Dents new bikeWe collected Mrs Dents slightly late Xmas pressie today. Happy to say she loves it and is eager to take it on its maiden voyage, which will be tonight once the sun stops melting the bitumen on the road...

Re: Mrs Dents new bikeLucky mrs dent! Looks like a great Christmas present (although not my scene)! Hope she enjoys many hours of fun on it.
Re: Mrs Dents new bikeCheers Isabella
We just finished the maiden voyage, and Mrs Dent's first ride in almost two decades. 25 mins around the car park over the road, and then down the street a bit and back once she got bored with going in circles. Turns out this is the first bike she has ever had with gears, or non-coaster brakes. Overall, a successful first ride Dent.
Re: Mrs Dents new bikeWell done !
Baby steps to start with...... I have just got Mrs Riggsbie back on a bike but it's hard to make it a habit and not a chore ! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Re: Mrs Dents new bike25mins is a great first ride, keep it up! She will probably be a bit overwhelmed with the gears and brakes to start with but I'm sure with practice she'll get the hang of it. I'm glad your encouraging her to try riding, I wish I could get my boyfriend into it but he refuses. Keep it fun - ride to a cafe thats close for a coffee or brekky that she likes, ride to a park on a nice (but not too hot day), even ride to her fave shop. Good luck!
Re: Mrs Dents new bike(Cross-posted and edited for those unfamiliar with my trikes from the recumbents forum, see here: http://www.bicycles.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=57855)
Just went for our first family ride, me on the one of my trikes, (dubbed the "Loafer" when it's fairing was complete, but currently with only the rear fairing), Joshie on his new Kmart BMX, and Mrs Dent on her new ride. 40mins, down to the in-laws to borrow a helmet, then up to a nearby car park Joshie and I frequently hoon around in on the trikes (it has speed bumps and a gravel "skid-pan", lots of fun for irresponsible riding On the whole and enjoyable first family ride Dent.
Re: Mrs Dents new bikeWell, a few short rides later, and with our son away for the weekend, we took to the trail again this evening. Beaut ride, but forcibly shortened by sunset and the current lack of lights on either of our rides. We only dawdled along but included a few gentle hills, and Mrs Dent got the adrenalin pumping on a couple well earned down hill runs
Methinks a picnic is in order tomorrow... Dent.
Re: Mrs Dents new bikeHi Dent, hope you and mrs Dent got out for that picnic and had a great time. Your 'bents look fantastic, I bet you and your son have an awesome time on them, and good on you for building them yourself!
