Canyon's new Women Specific Design range

Postby Mububban » Wed May 24, 2017 11:59 am

GCN had a look at Canyon’s new women specific design models. Previously they didn’t have actual women specific design, they just used slimmer handlebars and a different saddle. Now Canyon have actually designed them from the ground up with women’s bodies in mind:

No rim brakes on the new Ultimate or Endurace, so if you want one for racing right now, no go

I FB messaged Canyon the other day about the no rim brakes / cant race discs / reasoning, there response;
Canyon wrote: we're sure that the non disc versions will come later. For now its just a disc specific release, there are non disc womens models available currently but not with updated geometry. Maybe next season

My translation;
Canyon wrote: we're taking a punt that disc's will be fully UCI sanctioned soon and because the groupset manufacturers have invested so much money into disc development there at a point of no return. Therefore we cant be bothered to R&D rim brake versions so dont expect them .. peace out

Yeah that's how I interpreted that as well - they've gone all in hoping that the UCI will approve racing with discs.

What percentage f riders actually race though? Surely the majority of cyclists, even those that do weekly group rides and have all the latest bling, are just doing it for fun and exercise? Some will race but how many?
