Need a battery charger
Postby hotdiggity » Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:11 pm
Trying to buy on a charger for an unbranded ebike battery. It's a 35 volt battery, most probably Li-ion. I was recommended a 1.5 - 2 amp charger by the local ebike shop, however the chargers online mostly specify amp hours (10 or 12). Any clues?

Mmmm. If you don't know the battery type, better to go for a lower amperage charger. It'll take longer but be less likely to overcharge the battery. At a guess, I'd say the 10Ah one is probably the one to go for. Make sure the voltage is matched - THAT is REALLY important.
Charge it outside the first few times.
Alternatively you can build your own charger with a lithium battery hobby charger (Hobbyking) and power supply unit (Ebay). It might be cheaper and safer but requires a small bit of electrical know-how and possibly soldering...
