Visited a servo on my bike today...

It was an interesting feeling. I had just ridden 51km on 0.6l of fuel, and ran out as I approached a servo.

Then I filled it up...



First time I've filled the bike at a servo... It was a good feeling, walking inside and slapping down my $2 coin, and getting a big pile of change back $0.65 it cost me - I guess that's what my daily running costs are.

I've done the maths before, but nothing quite prepares you for seeing the real costs in that kind of way -

Normally they have minimum 2lt on most pumps I've used in Sydney.

Which has no way of being enforced! It isn't as though the pump is going to keep on pumping until 2L is reached. Nor are their systems set up to charge you more than the price on the pump.

I've filled up a 325ml bottle before as I needed fuel for my camping stove. I paid with a 50c coin!

Even says in the photo "minimum delivery 5L". But i work at a servo and in reality there is no restriction at all, so long as the customer actually pays i don't care .

65c for a tank even manages to beat my 250!

You ever notice how hard it is to find something to lock your bike to outside a gas station? Last few times I've gone inside (for sausage rolls, not petrol;) ) I've had to take my bike with me.

I think the servo minimum levels have more to do with delivering a calibrated amount of fuel within the limits. That at the minimum fuel delivery level, it will deliver an amount within the calibrated limits. I could be wrong though.

Softy - Veggies? If you filled up on Veggies for 65c, I think you did pretty good. That would be around $10 at coles/woolies prices.
