Giant hits a Roadbike with the Ugly E-Stick

Postby AUbicycles » Tue Feb 23, 2016 10:01 pm

Electrified motors have already hit road bikes before and it never seems to be a good combination. Giant are now getting into the action with e-bikes available to UK customers.

"Yamaha provides the drive system which is said to produce 80Nm of torque, powered by a 500Wh or 400Wh (depending on model) lithium ion battery." More from Cycling IQ

It doesn't pass as an attractive road bike in my book. The fat down tubes work well optically on urban and commuter bikes though there is a limit when it comes to style.

Well, Giant have never made a decent looking bike. But, I dunno - some seem to get electric pretty right...

I'd take the specialized over that any day.

I've seen chinese kit build bikes that look better than that.
Fast light bike
Cushy dirt bike
Workhorse bike
No brakes bike
Ebike :)

Then again I think it looks OK and a bit better looking then the MTB version.

Giant is the Toyota of bikes. Uninteresting, but tough and reliable. Substance beats style any time.

I'll happily supply the petrol and a box of matches if you can't figure out how to short-circuit the LiPo battery :P

The down tube needs to at least continue a uniform profile up to the top tube. Still not pretty but would be a slight improvement.

I want a fast e-bike for motorpacing.
