The Accell Group – owner of Raleigh and e-bike brands such as Haibike – has released its latest financial statement and it shows the Netherlands-based company is now more reliant on e-bikes than ever, and is also looking to an omnichannel future. Turnover in e-bikes was up 33 percent, while turnover in regular bicycles declined by 11 percent, says the company. E-bikes now account for 41 percent of its business, said the soon-to-depart CEO René Takens.

"For the first time, Accell Group realised turnover in excess of €1 billion," said Takens. "One of the main drivers of this was the constantly growing contribution from e-bikes and bikes in the higher segment of the market in particular."

Sounds very interesting. The numbers of e-bike commuters is increase every year - that means they're selling to new cyclists as well as upgrades/next-bikers.

The metric used states turnover, so the number is a little misleading as an ebike will be way more expensive than a standard bike. Meaning the 41% is less of a statement of how many ebike vs std were sold to more of an average price per unit of the bike sales.

Their regular bike turnover declined by 11%.

Stating they are strong in a growth market with 1bn turnover will be good for the CV of the outgoing CEO.

Don't forget they he can also claim that he moved the company to an "omnichannel future". :)

E-bikes are the way of the future.

They will never replace normal bikes entirely, but they'll help get people out of cars and onto two wheels, something many people haven't done since they were teenagers and have forgotten how much they used to enjoy.

More cyclist-minded people equals more cyclist-minded drivers. Win-win.
When you are driving your car, you are not stuck IN traffic - you ARE the traffic!!!

E- everythings are the way of the future. Electric boost for all manner of items, clean, cheap effective and you don't need to work up a sweat.

... Just as long as we can work out how to recycle the batteries efficiently all will be good.
