Bid to make bike helmets compulsory

A £50 penalty may have to be paid by parents of young cyclists in Northern Ireland who do not wear safety headgear, it has been revealed.
Helmets would become compulsory for all if politicians go ahead with the proposals.

I'm with Mike. They should ban cars. Or at least force drivers to wear helmets too. More drivers suffer head injuries than cyclists by some margin I reckon.

Well if it goes ahead, let's just hope that research will be funded to prove or disprove the merits of such legislation.

I'm opposed to mandatory helmet laws, however whilst it is still legislation in Australia, I'll be a law-abiding citizen and wear mine.
