Light yourself up... really
Postby Comedian » Sun Dec 12, 2010 6:19 pm
I was out the other evening and their was a rider who had trained his front light backwards at his body. So, his torso was flashing, and it was super effective. He really stood out and IMHO it was far more noticeable to traffic than just a normal forward facing light. Clearly you probably need another forward light but what a great idea.
Does anyone else do this?

Interesting concept, but wouldn't the backwards facing light blind the rider and make it even harder to see?

That was the clever bit... he had it pointed low at his torso so I don't think it would have been an issue. Also his light was like a slow flasher, not one of the epilepsy inducing strobes.

similar concept to hanging lights off your helmet that light up your back and shoulders... the more the merrier when it comes to lighting yourself up.

ahh, but remember that one guy who got off rear ending a rider who had a backlight and visibility gear, because the rider didnt have a FRONT light?
I found that mounting a second light at the end of the top tube (just in front of the seat post) lights up your whole top tube, thighs, handlebars, and chest too

We have only been riding again for 2 mths. The wife is still a little wobbly, when we ride at night we wear reflective vests and have Nitelights Illuminator 900 Lumen which are mounted to our helmets. I stay behind her and have mine on flashing mode and she stands out like a xmas tree
