Your Bicycle helmet is illegal and dangerous.
Postby steve » Wed Jan 05, 2011 5:14 pm
Oops the government made a mistake but Sorry No apologies no compensation.
Apparently the last AS/NZS 2063 helmets caused more death and injury than originally anticipated and they can't hide it by working the figures anyone. The New AS/NZS 2063:2008 Bicycle Helmet standard is an admission that your old AS/NZS 2063 (last revised 1996) helmet is now officially acknowledged as a death trap,
from mid 2011 it is illegal to sell the old helmets.
To bad if you are among the 20-30 people already dead each year in australia who were wearing these helmets - the government knows dead people can't complain.
As usual there is no liability offered with the new standard either but you will still be forced to wear one anyway. If you disagree you will be treated as a criminal.
Why is the mandatory helmet law still in place - is this a clear case of criminal intent by the government legislators to injure and kill cyclists if not simply to discourage cycling. ?
What do people now feel about being forced to wear their bicycle helmets now that they are acknowledged to kill and injure people in accidents. ?
Will the new ones be any better , maybe in another 10 years they will realize the new standard also has the same or other problems (on my website i list additional factors which make them dangerous which the standard fails to address ) ?
For more information please visit my website bicycle australia org and i am interested to hear any feedback about the site too to make improvements or corrections.

I also am disappointed that you are confusing "illegal to sell" with illegal.
Its still perfectly legal to wear a helmet constructed to the previous standard, and for many helmet designs, they would in fact meet both standards, but are simply not approved against the later standard, and there is a reasonable body of evidence to suggest that bicycle helmets do reduce the occurance of moderate head injuries.

I am beginning to find your way of conveying the message obnoxious and obsessive.
Respectfully yours,

Agree. Logic fail.zero wrote:I also am disappointed that you are confusing "illegal to sell" with illegal.
Is this the same crank/troll from SA who was carrying on like a prawn about how his helmet makes his head hot, with all sorts of dire consequences for his vision?

I refuse to on the basis that his post is moronic and I am afraid that the rest of his site will be filled with the same stupidity.
Go troll for friends elsewhere.

There's been so much talk of rules and policies recently... so a couple come to mind when I read this post...
• Sneaky and cloaked commercial spamming is easily detected and also incurs an immediate ban.
The following topics / content does not belong in this forum:
• Religion / Sexuality / Sex / Politics / Race & Ethnicity
ok... maybe it's boarder line... but it's gotta be close to that boarder line.
... or I could just be sick of helmet threads...

Well... any site that lauds itself as Australian, and then undermines itself by writing the date in the illogical Seppo format (MM/DD/YY) doesn't do much for my opinion of it. It reminds me of when I travelled a bit through the US and with a few of the locals I dared to bring the subject up with thought the Australian government was grossly oppressing us for not letting us keep and bear arms.....Bicycle australia org is a non-profit website.
In order to keep costs down it is published only in default text.
Bicycle australia org is online since 31 August 2010.
This site is still under construction please excuse any errors.

Just didn't read anything usefull/helpfull at all.
I personally don't like the mhl, but in saying so ,i would never support this guy, pure waste of time...
If there would be a way to revoke the law , this site could be used as a guide of 'how not to do this'...

In that context it's sad to see how this post has degenerated into unwarranted personal attack. Human nature I spose.
Is it too much to hope for a helmet post that doesn't get personal??
