Vale Ron Gehring

This was posted on the Audax Google group by Howard and Bec. I think there is a thread on this crash but I cannot find it. Either way I felt the vale should be more widely shared.

It is with immense sadness that I inform you that Ron Gehring passed away on Saturday evening.

Ron was cycling home alone after an evening ride with friends on Wednesday when an accident occurred.

Ron sustained serious head injuries and never regained consciousness.

He died in peace, surrounded by his beautifully devoted family, friends and work colleagues.

Generous in death as he was in life; eight people's lives have been improved and possibly saved by his organ donations.

Ron will be repatriated to the USA, but he will be remembered by all of those people whose lives he touched.

Farewell good friend, we'll miss you.

My thoughts are with Ron's family.

Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
