Porsche Bike RS Recalled due to Brakes

Postby Aushiker » Sat Apr 06, 2013 8:21 am

Porsche Bike RS Driver's Selection bicycles have been recalled due to an problem with the Magura MT 8 brakes fitted to them. It seems that the brakes may suddenly fail and they have a tendency to do this in temperatures around - 10 C and below. I guess conditions one encounters a lot in Australia :)

It will be interesting to see if other brands are also fitted with these bikes and hence recalled. Also the lack of Australian official recall on the Magura MT6 and 8 is interesting. Where these not sold in Australia?

Easy to get down to those temps on the southern tablelands of NSW riding on a winter morning, or as I occasionally do, late on a winters night - especially with typical windblast.

In any case its a probabilistic failure, and is simply made more likely by low temps, and worst of all, can fail both brakes in the same application, ie I'd consider those unridable if I was an owner.
