[mod] Agreed; the discussion is starting to veer away from these specific exemptions and into general debate of the mandatory helmet laws - this discussion is fine, but needs to take place in the Mandatory Helmet Laws & stuff thread.[/mod]

Wife I didn't wear helmets today on our 15klm coast ride.
Wore baseball caps.
We're baseballist religion.
Passed cops, they didn't bother but I suspect most won't.
Just the odd mongrel cop.

That's odd, I had you down for a Pastafarian :) . (No disrespect intended for your wife, I wish I could convince mine to ride)

Has anyone seen this TED talk on helmets?

I really feel that if you are just commuting or going out for a slow cruse there is no need for a helmet.

See...there's your basic problem. Australia is built around discriminatory laws.......if you're not a white Christian, anyway

That may be an argument for another thread, or indeed forum looking around here. Which is unfortunate, because you can't realistically discuss this topic without touching on basic religous and discrimination issues.

Well if we are going to pick sentences apart...
human909 wrote:But not wearing a helmet isn't any less responsible.
That's like saying entering a war situation without body armour isn't any less responsbile.

[quote="human909"No. Just some of us don't want to wear helmets.[/quote]
Then don't. This isn't a facist regime. If you feel so passionataly about such edifices, I doubt that legislation is going to stop you.
human909 wrote:Is it? I've never hit my head/helmet when I've fallen. Stop speaking in absolutes.
The irony here is that you're subjectively talking in absolutes. You clearly know the function of a helmet (I hope).
human909 wrote:And taking responsibility has nothing to do with helmet wearing.
I'm not even going to bother with this one.

You're entitled to your own opinions but don't feel that my points are an attack against yours. These are contrasting viewpoints of what should inform a healthy discussion. I just suggest you exercise logic and rationalism against impotence.

This is NOT the MHL thread, this is a thread discussing one specific, state based issue relating to hemlets.

Get it right people or moan about the consequences and what a bad mod I am in an email to admin. I'm tired of these games.
