Brisbane's (and other) Ghost Bike Locations

Postby The 2nd Womble » Fri Sep 13, 2013 6:46 pm

http://ghostbikes.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has no locations for Brisbane on their world map. Given that this means at least Narelle Dobinson's and Richard's bikes are not listed, I want to compile a new list of Ghost Bikes to send to them.
I am focusing on getting Brisbane recognised here, but maybe their info on the rest of Oz needs an update as well.
If you have a location, pic of the bike end who it's dedicated to, please post here.

From the front page ...

*** At this time, Ghostbikes.org is unable to add information about Ghost Bikes outside of New York City. We are currently fundraising to improve the site in order to allow user-generated content. To fund this critical redesign of GhostBikes.org and to sustain the New York City Street Memorial Project's efforts to install Ghost Bikes in New York City, we are currently seeking to raise $5,000. We appreciate the continued support and work of our community in New York City and around the world and ask for your help in furthering our work and building our global network. Please use this link to make as generous a donation as you can. ***

Maybe not the best time to send them Australian ghost bike images.

There is also a ghost bikes category at Waymarking.com. Maybe an option? There is at least one WA listed there.

I guess a new page on the SCA site is another way forward as well. Doin' it.

I may stir the poo out of him as often as possible, but I have to say it...
I love this bloke like a brother.
Dave, you Sir are a dead set legend!

Nawww...

OK moderators. This should provide enough background on the distinct lack of information on these wonderful tributes to those whose lives were lost whilst doing what they loved.
I think this deserves a Sticky and a rename: Ghost Bikes of Australia.
I want everyone who knows the location of a Ghost Bike(s) in their area to provide the following information on them
1)Street, suburb, town/city.
2)Who it's dedicated to.
3)Photo if possible.
If I know the address I may be able to get the additional details if you're stuck. For example:
Richard Pollett. RIP 2010.
Moggil Rd, Kenmore, Brisbane Qld

The list compiled here will be added to a new page on the Safe Cycling Australia website so that cyclists Australia wide can remember the fallen. None of them deserve to simply be forgotten.

Start a fresh thread with the important bits of the above post Dave and it's glued as soon as I see it.
