1/3 of surveyed cyclists support mandatory hi-viz clothing

Postby Aushiker » Sun Oct 27, 2013 10:36 am

A survey of 1,000 cyclists carried out on behalf of Autoglass, of whom 30 per cent were predominantly commuters as opposed to leisure cyclists, also found that when it came to safety, half supported the idea of more cycle lanes, a third wanted compulsory cycling proficiency tests, while only 16 per cent supported lower speed limits for drivers.

Mandatory bowler hats and brollies for all Londoners too!

Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.

A car component seller commissions research that declares cyclists don't want car drivers to be affected by safety legislation? Only a third of these 'cyclists' wanted more bike lanes and only 16 percent wanted speeds reduced? Pull the other one, it's got bells attached! :D

And gloves inside their 6 point harness...

A survey comissioned by a car based private business based on multiple choice of poor to average options? Riiiiiiiiight.
Where was the "Smokeboxers should open their bloody eyes and put the damn phone down" checkbox?
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.
