Cyclist down - reconciliation road - Prospect

Postby g-boaf » Sat Nov 02, 2013 1:59 pm

This morning a cyclist came down at Reconciliation road near the corner of Davis Road after apparently tangling with the poorly placed concrete block on the cycling path beside the road. I believe the poor guy was taken away in an ambulance - some sort of leg injury.

It's a pretty bad hazard the way they've placed that block, along with the one further up the hill near the quarry entrance.

If the unlucky cyclist happens to be reading here - I hope you mend quickly.

Has anyone reported it to the council? With a significant injury, the response should be pretty prompt... Always after an event.

That road is a bit of a hot potato. The barrier is poorly place. Closing the road is one thing, but like that is a not great.

I generally get off and walk past the top barrier - but I slowly crawl past the bottom barrier near Davis Road. Better to be cautious than be a hero and crash.

It will be sorted out though.

Think the potato has been stone cold for quite some time.

The road construction started back in 2008 by Boral. Five years later and it's still not open.

Private industry doing a really lousy job of proving governments can't build roads. And
showing quite inadequate attention to public safety.
