I have been struck by a car. I was OFF THE ROAD when they pulled into a driveway and hit me.
That sucks, but is this related to the thread?

The only place I have been hit by a car was on a dedicated off-road Cycleway when a car exited their driveway and did not stop and look before crossing the cycleway.
I have never been hit on the road.

Then motorists should use motorways (or whatever the equivalent is in your state) when available as they are purpose built for motor vehicles.

For sure... and they should keep off the dam footpaths and shared paths (cycleways).

Use of roads by motorists should be compulsory.

...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

He was licensed - but his plane was in for service so he had to use a car. It just didn't fly so well

What a fantastic coincidence... I read through this thread the other day just to see what was going on (I was chatting to some friends about bike paths and bike laws in general) and then the day after, I went for a ride and found this...

If it was compulsory to use cycleways I would never get to work, because there are none that go to my destination.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
