WA Premier Barnett thinks that cyclists riding two-abreast and the proposed 1m passing rules are going to "force cars travelling in opposite directions closer to each other"
What an abject idiot! Could not possibly require drivers to slow down when required and drive safely

Mandatory helmet law?

I think the biggest issue is attitudes like those express by Mr Barnett.Bicycling WA chief executive Jeremey Murray said Mr Barnett did not understand the issues surrounding cycling.
"If he thinks riders riding two abreast is the biggest issue, then he's well off the mark," he said.
"The biggest issue is the lack of infrastructure."
Sure infrastructure is needed but equally as important is an attitude change. This needs to be supported by our authorities, not hindered.

The Emperor has been making some ill-thought out comments of late for sure ... this is just another one in the list. See the related discussion on Colin's thoughts here.

How do people like this that appear to have very few brain cells get to have the highly paid and responsible jobs like they do?

By being moron aggro motorists and appealing to enough of the rev-head bogans in our suburbs and bush districts to get elected.

it's all about saying stuff that resonates with voters.il padrone wrote:By being moron aggro motorists and appealing to enough of the rev-head bogans in our suburbs and bush districts to get elected.
my personal favorite was Abbott telling NTers that they faced higher costs of living than other states/territories - which someone went to the trouble of disproving. Abbot wouldn't have cared that he was wrong, he could feel the warmth radiating from voters who 'understood the challenges they faced'.
of course the absolute master of that style of campaigning was.... ah, i won't go there.

MattyK, I had to give up reading the comments on that Channel Nine page, just too depressing. The ignorance and attitudes of some people is beyond comprehension.MattyK wrote:Much retard going on in the comments section here... https://www.facebook.com/9NewsPerth?fref=nf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
One persistent poster kept using the phrase "clip em and flip em". God help us!
Although I shouldn't be surprised, I live in Perth and experience it daily on the morning commute
