Bicycle Down Lights

Postby AlexHuggs » Sat Sep 12, 2015 10:54 am

I was interested in the Ding Light which incorporates a spread of light on the road surrounding the bike, but my new ride has a built in LED. Doing a bit of research found the Jimmy Beam Light, which doesn't look like it's gone to market yet (manufacturer's website). The Jimmy Beam looks like a fantastic idea.

Anyone tried this with a couple of regular lights? Seems to me you could simulate the Ding pretty simply with a cheap light with a wide spread, although not as convenient.

The Redzone4 tail light on my commuter already throws a decent halo onto the ground. I'm a fan of the idea but not sure about the execution.

When I asked the inventers of Ding, they bring a lot of LED light expertise to the table. So while it could be duplicated on the cheap - making it effective is the next step. That said, I have not yet trialled it.
